Okkkkkk Soooooo, every few years we are blessed with a "smokers anthem". It doesn't happen often,  but when it does…it's almost like witnessing a Lunar Eclipse. I mean come on now…Dr.Dre blessed us with THE CHRONIC, and introduced us to MR.CHRONIC HIMSELF aka SNOOP DOGG. The LUNIZ baptized us with "I Got 5 On It". DEVIN THE  DUDE created multiple lyrical biblical scriptures about chronic, and let us take a moment to bow down to the GREAT…BONE THUGS N HARMONY(*praying hands). Needless to say these timeless "smokers anthems" started off as hits, and are now CLASSICS. This generation of music can now add "XTRA GRAMS" to it's anthems of must haves! CHRNC featuring DJ KONGO makes you feel exactly how 1 should feel when you come up on some "XTRA GRAMS". The intro automatically grabs you for 1 hell of a ride, like fastening your seatbelt right before your plane takes flight. CHRNC is a musical magician (*ultimate genius with the trap beats) , working his voice in deep undertones. Himself and DJ KONGO take turns flipping chronic terminology and metaphors in a catchy addictive way.  I hate to make promises…because some I may not keep (*like promising I would give up Chipotle for a week…#fail). SPARKPLUGENT INTRODUCES RAW INKED!

Okkkkkk Soooooo let's face it. When becoming an artist of this musical generation…the qualifications needed to succeed have gotten…pretty cloudy. Judging (and I shouldn't) from what people have been trying to force on us, all you  need to be a "rapper" is a whole bunch of tats from your local , not very well qualified tattoo artist aka "yo cuzzo", a couple of pair of Jordan's, and hella social media "followers" aka ghost followers who never like your music, or support you craft. I mean it's getting pretty difficult to separate the real from the wannabes. How many times has someone aggressively instructed you to "yoooo click the link in my bio"…and a low quality video pops up, with lyrics that sound WACK? I was just beginning to loose all faith in local artists til Splash Rob invited me to the CASTLE, for a party and performance show.

I was kinda just taking in my surroundings at the club. I live on the WESTSIDE (*throw up ya w's), but it was my 1st time really being around mostly Westside artists, in a Westside club. There were a few crews gathered in different groups. There were chics dancing all around, all in the guys faces being flirtatious, and there were a few people dressed in typical club wear…*ya know what I'm talking about. I was standing close to the stage, next to a super tall, extra slim light skinned  guy. He was sitting on the edge of the stage and kinda bobbing his head to the music. He wasn't surrounded by anyone really, he seemed to be in his own zone. His hat apparel stood out, because it was simple yet intriguing. It read "RAW INKED". As I tried to figure out where I had heard RAW INKED before…he suddenly jumped up on the stage, and after a few moments his shirt came off and he was going full throttle!!!!

I was shocked!!!! I kept looking at the empty spot where RAW INKED sat just a few moments prior. Nooooo this wasn't just another wannabe rapper, with whack tats, and no delivery. RAW INKED had the whole clubs attention! His endless tats showed their perfection under the lights, and he seemed to kinda strut and pose, and cover the small stage with calculated steps….like he had actually practiced his showmanship before. (*You gotta be able to work the stage *headroll fingasnap) While he was performing "GET MONEY", I could tell he really had taken the time to work the beat, use inflections in his voice, and more interestingly …he managed to take an almost overused term like "Get Money", and make it seem like it was something new that we just got hip to!!!!!

Letting my RAW INKED curiosity finally get the best of me ,I headed straight over to social media to investigate. Not only does RAW INKED have hella followers…they are legit! They constantly show him love, and they "like" every little thing he posts! The link in his bio will quickly direct you to some of the most high quality videos from a local artist! I mean he has videos shot by Ced Lynch…yes..theeee Ced Lynch, Holla Films , MIKEY FILMS and more! I was so impressed with RAW INKED I sent a personal invite to GET IT POPPIN studio, where he was a featured guest on #GIRLPOWERRADIO!  I honestly didn't think RAW INKED would show. Only because he seemed so "cool" and "all that". So when he peeked thru our door,  I instantly gave him hella kudos! RAW INKED is confident, humble, outgoing, artistic, and really down to earth! He introduced his song "HIGH" and seemed non chalant about it finally being played on the radio. Later on after I checked out his IG ,I noticed he had posted himself in the studio, and it was awesome to see so many fans support him. It was even more awesome to see an artist actually enjoy everything that was happening in their career. Some artists are "to cool" for their own good. RAW INKED quickly made it clear…he doesn't rock Jordan's all the time, he books his own shows, studio time, video shoots, and runs his own social media. He's mos def an original artist who is meticulous about details (just check o ut his tats and videos) and is the total package. CHECK OUT RAW INKED later this month at the Agora!!!  Okkkk Soooo when I packed up my camera, and headed over to Get It Poppin studio, I'll admit I was dragging my feet. Sparkplug Ent. had been personally invited to a meet and greet, and I still wasn't sure who I was interviewing. After getting buzzed in I pushed my way thru the door, and got damnnnn there must have been 40 people all crowded around something or someone…listening like there was no tomorrow. Im no "Jesus", but the crowd seemed to part as I waked thru giving me space to take flicks. Soon as I made my way next to the huge guy in a hoodie , I recognized his voice but not his face. It wasn't til I put 2 and 2 together that I realized it was "MR.DOULE CUP" himself DJ INFAMOUS!!!!

Q. How does it feel to be here in CLEVELAND?
A. It feels good! I'm from Lansing, Michigan so it's like home to me.I'm enjoying this rainy weather. I'm from Michigan, so you know I'm cool with the rain. I like hoodie season, so this is my type of weather right here.

Q. How many hoodies do you think you have?
A. Damnnn…probably bout 100.


Q. Which artist have you really enjoyed working with so far?
A. That's hard to say right now cuz I'm just getting started. I'd have to say everyone who's on my single "DOUBLE CUP".

Q. If you're not listening to hip-hop what other kind of music are you listening to to get beats from?
A. Pop, Rock, pretty much everything. Ol skool, 80's rap and R & B…I'm an 80's baby, so I love the whole 80's era.

A. Trippy stick, deodorant, toothbrush.

A. I love theeee South, I mean I love the West Coast too…but the South…the South is mannnnnnn SHEESH lol, that's why I moved down there, I love the South!

Lil D and TheWordEyeHeard Presents CUPCAKES&COCKTAILS with #GIRLPOWERRADIO!!!

Okkkkk Soooooo when I was kindly asked to be a sponsor for an all female event…let's just say …I was very cautious. I mean just the thought of a room full of women, most of whom I've never met before, can be a little intimidating. When I say "intimidating", I mean…women can be funny creatures. Often times women come equipped with the "who are you looking at, scan you from top to bottom, and forcefully find some sort of flaw on another woman type defense mechanism". CocoZ The MixMistress  is 1 of the most  respected females in the city, so after a moment of thinking the worst I accepted the invitation. CUPCAKES and COCKTAILS hosted by Lil D "thewordeyeheard" radio host on 107.9fm turned out to be far more that what I had ever expected!

Walking into Anatomy was entertainment at it's best! Maybe because I had that damn Charles Ramsey (yes…the hero) with me , muttering an abundance of off the wall nonsense in my ear all the way up to the door.Then again, soon as we entered we were greeted by a friendly female who offered us both 1 of those "HELLO My Name Is"name tags and a black sharpie. Me being the oh so "mature" person I am, was quick to scribble something offensive or corney on the name tag. The female greeting us just kept smiling so nicely, that I decided "Jenny, be professional" , and decided to write my name and company I represented. Crawling up the staircase to the rooftop where the event took place was dark. Yet again we were greeted by a refreshingly high spirited hostess, who handed us each 1 wooden token that was good for 1 free drink. 




As I peeped my head 1st into the CUPCAKES and 
COCKTAILS event, then my body, I automatically noticed how sunny it was on the rooftop! I mean there were women all over the place! Each lady had a little sassy stroll, and everyone was dressed for the weather, sun dresses,  jeans and tanks, short skirts, heels, flats…each woman had her on individual style . The patio was open and the most perfect breeze joined the party. Cashing in my wooden token, I was given a "secret punch" and sat down. Looking next to me I realized I was sitting next to REALLY RASHIDA aka published novelist of her own book!!! Londyn Rae was seen flicking up, Ms.CREAMOFTHECROP was surrounded by all sorts of females .KICKAGIRL was doing interviews and doing a damn good job! Charles Ramsey didn't mind taking pics with all the ladies but quietly played the back on the bar, and the LEGENDARY KIM SELLERS graced the event with her extraordinary self!!!CocoZ played all the hits, and let's not forget the CUPCAKES and COCKTAILS!!! 

As the event started to grow I noticed the smallest lady in the room. Well actually I noticed her dress 1st! It was neon orange, and had the cutest lil bow on the back. The fact that the woman was wearing blue heels with the dress, made me automatically respect her fashion sense and confidence. Lil D looked flawless ! (S/o to URBAN SOPHISTICATE STYLE *headroll fingasnap). Lil D was effortlessly sincere and passionate about CUPKCAKES and COCKTAILS. She reminded everyone to mingle, network and tell their success stories. Lil D made everyone on the rooftop feel accomplished and respected. She introduced us to people in the city doing amazing things to help each other. Honestly I wasn't sure what Lil D would be like. Listening to her on the radio she is comically sarcastic, and brutally honest…a real wise cracker. Yet at CUPCAKES and COCKTAILS she was serious,elegant and friendly, yet still added her touch of humor to lighten up the room.

Listening to Broken To Purpose , was the most moving part of the event  for myself. As a woman or even a man, we have felt broken before, and just really need someone to talk to. Broken To Purpose has great potential to be something extraordinary. I damn near had to throw my hands up in the air n wave em around like in church as Broken To Purpose was defined to us. Lil D spoke from the heart and showed great appreciation for East Cleveland Narrator where she is a columnist.. The event turned out to be more than just CUPCAKES and COCKTAILS. There was class, success, motivation, accomplishments, and talented women all on 1 rooftop. Thanks to Lil D, and #GIRLPOWERRADIO for a beautiful, inspiring and uplifting event!!!XOXO
