AHPTIMUS PRIME TIME!!!!

Soooooooo....in a world full of chaos, in a world where at times everyone and everything...seems the same, I found myself yearning for some depth to life. I dunno...maybe I felt like I was subconsciously
searching for something organic...something or someone "different". Sometimes we as humans, feel something inside  and don't really know what it is. Sometimes we as creatures on this planet Earth..become so accustomed to life, and all that's in it... we begin to accept people, art, music, and life just as it is. At times we lose ourselves to "stereotypical" ways of life. Even tho deep inside of our souls, we know what truly makes us happy. We sometimes bury our artistic ways, or silent our lyrics and feelings...out of fear of being labeled an  "outcast" in our society. (*Hold up hold up *Big Sean voice) I'm not saying that all people are the "same"....but every once in awhile...a "gem" is found. Something spectacular, and rare.I found something...or should I say ....someone...that is a rare gem...and he calls himself AHPTIMUS PRIME.
"The Revolution Will Not Be Televised"
When I first met AHPTIMUS PRIME....I was headed to W.41 Side Studios with EzWhite (1 of Cleveland's dopest rappers, probably rookie of the year). EzWhite and I stomped our way down the stairs to the studio. I wasn't expecting much that day, there were a couple of other artists in their creative zones already working. I wouldn't dare call these artists "typical", but I would say...everyone was in their fits...ya kno...designer jeans, expensive t's, fitted hats...except for B-Lo (another beast on the mic from Cleveland...that will make you say "Im in the PAINT"), B-Lo was wearing the coolest {{Bow-tie}}. I glanced around the studio...fixated on the most beautiful, wonderful graffiti I have ever seen in real -life. I was so lost in the artwork it probably took me a few mins til I realized I was being introduced to someone sitting in the captains chair in front of the computer. I've been introduced to hella people before ...so my hand stuck out in a kinda limp "heyyyyy I'm Jenn" dry kinda way. But suddenly the figure in the chair looked up from under his paper-boy hat...and flashed a genuine smile. He wasn't wearing your stereotypical fit. He had on jeans, comfortably broken in, and a sweater...almost vintage looking. It was 1 of those moments when the room spins, and everyone else vanishes. It was like my eyes locked on his ....and he said "Hey I'm AHPT"! (*noooooooooo this isn't one of those sappy romantic novel kinda writings, or love at first site kinda deals) Sometimes you can just read a person from the moment you look at them and decide if they are "good" people. I'm not saying that this is always the case, yes my lil gut has led me wrong before, but for the most part...my lil gut has been right.
AHPTIMUS PRIME is nowhere near your "average" dude. He is the complete opposite!!! You can totally tell that's guy is mos def comfortable in his own skin. He is super confident in his life, music, and art. I took a seat, still kinda shell shocked from this "new" guy. AHPTIMUS PRIME was effortlessly patient with Ez as he asked for the track to be played back, cut etc. AHPTIMUS PRIME listened to what Ez wanted, he would suggest things here in there, but he was allowing Ez and other artist to have control over their creative session. Some producers wil try and smother the artists with their interpretations or visions for that artist. AHPTIMUS PRIME's whole aura is that of an open, earthy, zen filled, 1 with all things living, creative, beautiful, and nourished soul. I sat in awe....like "is this guy really real"....after AHPTIMUS PRIME  worked for awhile....he finally removed himself from the captains chair aka production chair. I noticed his vinyl collection. Let's just say...it's one of the COOLEST collections I have ever seen. Being a vinyl collector myself...I was amazed! I also noticed huge pieces of artwork. It's like AHPTIMUS PRIME is some kind creative prodigy. A real artist will and can create beautiful art...on a piece of wood, coaster, window etc. AHPTIMUS PRIME had actually taken old doors...full doors, and created the most amazing, creative, eclectic pieces of work. I found out that he loves to do graffiti...which is a no brainer....because AHPTIMUS PRIME graduated from The Art Institute Of Pittsburgh. Not only is he artsy, he musically talented.

I'm sure most people may try and stereotype AHPTIMUS PRIME when they first meet him...as being "earthy, black power, organic, "Common" on his iPod, kinda guy". The truth is...he is earthy, organic, and intelligent. He's mos def into black history and politics, and his people. There is nothing fake about him. He mos def marches to his own beat...literally. Not only is AHPTIMUS PRIME a producer, engineer, art director, emcee, and cool ass dude...he is also a part of a band  called "POETIC REPUBLIC". I refer to his group as a band...because they are 1 of the few groups, that offer live music, drums, guitars ...the whole shebang! "POETIC REPUBLIC" combines hip hop, rock, and soul all together. The group was born around 2003, and their music gives you many layers of sound. If you aren't able to catch them here in Cleveland, maybe if you happen to make it to Brooklyn you might hear them. AHPTIMUS PRIME constantly jets back from Cleveland, to Brooklyn. Sometimes when you meet an artist like AHPTIMUS PRIME...ya know...earthy and soulful etc...they seem to only want to associate with "people" like themselves...but AHPTIMUS PRIME is different. When he is in the studio...he is completely open to new music , new beats, new concepts! I wouldn't classify him as a "trap artist"...because I will say...he can do it all! Just because the vision he has for himself might not be the vision for someone else, he has the ability to be able to create any kind of beat...and I mean any kind. He was laying down the fattest beats...some trap, some smooth jazz like beats. AHPTIMUS PRIME is so cleverly talented that he actually uses vinyl from his extensive collection to make beats...most of his beats have some kinda of classic vinyl infused with them.
http://soundcloud.com/poetic-republic/se...
I had a chance to see AHPTIMUS PRIME perform at the ROC bar not to long ago. He was with the whole W.41 Side crew. All of the artists out of W.41 Side are so different. Everyone has their own sound. AHPTIMUS PRIME gave a heart filled performance. You can tell he feels what he is saying. He isn't the tallest guy, but he covered the stage from every angle...he was passionate with his words. He performed to a crowd of mostly white people. By the time his performance had ended...he literally had all the white people holding up "black power" fist signs!!! Soon after his performance he was right there with the rest of the crew...vibing and filming with the utmost dedication for the rest of the crews performances. AHPTIMUS PRIME is a team player. He loves his crew. He mos def stands out amongst the click tho. He loves thrifting at the thrift store, and he loves to tag his work around the city. Sometimes you might catch him in the studio...barefoot, chillin in the most zen kinda way.
After meeting AHPTIMUS PRIME I felt whole myself. I felt somewhat born again. Listening to his music, thinking about his art...it made me feel comfortable with myself being myself again, free to do all that I love without caring what others may think. I ran home and stood in front of the blank canvas, that had been blank for weeks. I picked up my brush and started to paint. I sat in the grass with my shoes off, I slowly went thru all my vinyl and laid the needle to em. In a world full of chaos, where everyone and everything seems repetitive...I was thankful that I had met such a "gem", a person that's completely in control of their energy. Once you meet AHPTIMUS PRIME, and hear his music, or find yourself worshipping his art...you will understand how I became a fan. AHPTIMUS PRIME is a unique individual. His aura is contagious. His originality...will make you search for your own. If you need beats, or art he is an genuine, sincere person in making sure he gives you the best he has to offer. Become a fan...of AHPTIMUS PRIME!!! XOXO

MOLEY FILMS....LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!!!!

"Long as you remain relevant, and consistent
you will work with everyone"

Okkkkkkkk....sooooo I've never really thought of Cleveland as being a local "tinsel town". That is until recently...when Emo Mosley decided to take over the city! As Cleveland begins to grow... no longer the lil city in the midwest....demand for big city "luxuries" are at an all time high! With a flock of new artists emerging, Emo Mosley has successfully locked the music video game down. Not to mention (*but i will) he has managed to to do all the work that usually takes a whole team...by himself(*at the same damn time). Only 25 years young, and Emo Mosley seems unstoppable...less than 1 year in the game . Let's get a few things straight before I introduce you to Cleveland's"Leading Man". Emo Mosley is not your average "I got a camera, I'ma shoot ya video, low budget, sucky quality, geeky director". This guy graduated from SHAW H.S. He reps East Cleveland, but his name is respected  city to city. Not only is he educated with the  street smarts...he's book smart as well, and artistic (*can you say triple threat) dude actually attended Toledo University, where he studied computers and business. So hell yeah...it would be understandable how some people feel intimidated by Emo Mosley's success. I mean Emo Mosley has worked with damn near every artist in Cleveland...and yes...I really mean damn near every artist (*numbers don't lie) When I met Emo Mosley at a show at Phantasy a while back...I admit...I was a lil "local celebrity star struck".I mean I had heard hella good sh*t about MOLEY FILMS . Here he was to shoot Lil Ced from Nerdswag Ent.  Emo Mosley was extra quiet. I mean I don't even think dude said a word. He was totally focused, like "look I came here to do what I do". I noticed him checkin his phone constantly. I mean dude's phone traffic was ridiculous! All business propositions! Emo Moley had 3 video shoots lined up that night, and he was on time and professional for all of them! He's so about his business, he will look at his watch and basically say "uuhh times up, i gotta get to my next shoot".  Listening to him, he runs a tight ship. Striaght to the point...no time to play around.
When I first met Emo MosleyI was like whoa! He's very smooth... smooth dark skin, the fattest lineup, I mean dude was crisp from his head to his freakin shoes. I would say mos def "Classy". At times he may come across as "cocky, arrogant, or unapproachable", but wouldn't you be if you were your own number 1 fan. Especially if you've accomplished all that he has in such a short amount of time? I decided to give Emo Mosley a chance to introduce himself to Sparkplugent and let the city know...all about MOLEY FILMS!

Q.  You have really made a huge impact on the city of Cleveland, what made you decide to get into film?
A. I've always been a person, that wanted to give the people what they want. I noticed that people were attempting to do videos. Once I noticed that I thought to myself "damn...I could do that so much better". Whenever I see someone doing something....I automatically know...I can do it better.

Q. How long have you been shooting film?
A. A lil more than 6 months.

Q. How many videos do you think you've produced in that time?
A. Wow...uhhhhhh..sheesh...I dunno...a lil more than 60. Maybe between 60-70 videos. That includes commercials, documentaries, videos, trailers etc.

Q. What's your favorite movie...since you make movies?
A. Let's see......I really dig that new movie TED".....oh..and STEP BROTHERS...I love that damn movie, it's hilarious!!!! (*shoutout to Fancy Sauce)

Q.How did you become part of the LEGIT PAPER/ DEF JAM team?
A. Ha....well...mostly via word of mouth. Almost all my connections have been thru word of mouth. Ray actually approached me on the humble. I just happen to be starting film work and that's what he needed at the time. It was the opportunity of a lifetime to be able to work with LEGIT PAPER. I mean not only was I given a chance to work with Ray and the whole team, but since they linked the deal with Def Jam it's opened a lot of doors for all of us. I do most of LEGIT PAPER/Def Jam photography, videos, trailers...anything the team needs. LEGIT PAPER/Def Jam is solid so we do a lot of out of state tours, and a lot of local tours as well. I love shooting videos for my team, cuz the whole city comes out and supports. LEGIT PAPER/Def Jam..we out here working! We are in the process of shooting a real movie called "ELECTED".

Q.What is the name of your production company?
A. Moley Inc.

Q. Where is your office or studio located?
A. Downtown Cleveland. It's more like a studio, photography headquarters...I like to call it my HEADQUARTERS.

Q. With you being as busy as you are do you have anyone else working with you and your company?
A.Naw.....Nope...it's just me right now. Don't get me wrong....I would one day  like to build a solid team...but...it seems like sum people only wanna work...if they see it's something in it for them, most people don't wanna be part of a team, they are only concerned about themselves. so right now...I'm a 1 man team...no middle man ya dig.

Q.I heard you like to travel. When you do travel is it a habit that you take your camera everywhere?
A. Hell Yeah! I keep my camera with me...you never know when you might have a "moment" to capture.

Q.For you to only have been in the industry for less than a year, you've managed to work with some big name people and labels....would you name a few?
A. Yeah...I linked a deal with Deathrow Records recently. I have some stuff going on with Universal, I'm working with Phatty Banks (Cleveland Legend)...and I work with hella artists in Cleveland.

Q.What is your number 1 "pet peeve" you have when an artist request your services?
A. LOLOL I don't wanna sound like an asshole...but....when they don't have their money up. Getcha money up...then we can talk. I'm not working for free. I mean I always say...if your doing something we can network, or swap services. You know...if you make t's, or music etc...we can talk...I'm all about networking.

Q.How would you describe your style of film?
A. I dunno....I like to think outside the box. I try my best to have the best interpretation of the artist come across as real and artistic.I'm a director at heart...sometimes it's hard for me to share my visions...I am selfish with my visions at times...because I know they are the sh*t.

Q.Since shooting videos for many artists, what advice would you give to these females trying to be in videos?
A. I would say...you aint gotta get naked to be in a video. You don't have to  take off your clothes. I mean go hard...but you don't have to actually be in the paint. Do something different to stand out. Make the world know you. I try and show everyone support.

Q.Some people think you have an attitude....why?
A. Hahahah cuz I've been around, book smart and street smart...it's difficult to pull a fast one on me...I recognize bullshit from a mile away.

Q. If an artist is looking for high quality video work from ou what can they expect?
A. I'm bout my business, I'm professional and an artist. I've invested a lot into my equipment, name and headquarters. Expect nothing less than the best.

FIRST THINGS FIRST... HYDE PARKS

Okkkkk soooooo I had a chance to go to a show held at the ROC BAR in the Flats, Downtown Cleveland. The bar wasn't unusually huge...actually small like. It had a beach kinda feel to it. Tiki kinda looking bar, patio outside for the smokers. You could purchase actual 40oz beers! (*that's always f*cking awesome!!!) I knew a few artists performing that day that I had been extra excited about checking out. When I walked thru the doors I was thinking "uh oh...small crowd"...but then again it was only like 6pm...still bright as hell outside. Needless to say after about 3 acts the crowd started to fatten up. Most of the acts were talented and cool. After watching a few artists perform I made my way to the bar and took a seat. There was a small intermission  between acts...so I took the time to kinda check my lip gloss, fidget with my crackberry (yes...I still worship my crackberry) and debate on if I should exit the venue and proceed with my night. I mean I wasn't really familiar with any of the last few acts performing...and the night seemed to be dragging a little. But soon as I had grabbed my purse of the bar counter and started walking out the door...I heard the sound of shuffling flip flops, screaming "WOO WHOO'SSS", whistle blowing, and "HELL YEAH's". That's when my curiosity got the best of me and I turned around to see who was on stage. When my back was turned I heard what sounded like Nate Dogg, and Warren G ...or maybe even a little Slim Thug...I couldn't quit put my pinky on it.
http://piff.me/77c90ea
I turned around...and to my surprise...I saw a huge white guy....I mean huge! This guy was singing with soul, and rapping his ass off. He automatically had my attention. I found out later that his name is HYDE PARKS, and dude is from MENTOR, OH!!! The way HYDE PARKS performed you would have sworn he had did hella shows before. But actually...that was his first show...EVER!!!! He had the whole bar crowded around the stage....the whole crowd was rapping every lyric to his songs!!! No this guy was no faker....you can tell when an artist is passionate about their music...it seeps thru their performance. HYDE PARKS was sweating , red in the face....and you could see actual spit firing at the mic. Once I heard "Livin Like I'm Famous"...I was an automatic FAN! If I could blindfold you I would. That way you would be able to hear his music without first developing a "stereotype" about this "white rapper". Music is music...music has no color.  I was so damn excited...yes...excited to get his mixtape that I kinda stood in a line to get it! Yes he was that damn good! I didn't skip thru 1 song on his mixtape "FIRST THINGS FIRST". The mixtape reminds me of Old West Coast, meets suburban struggles, meets New York, meets down South. HYDE PARKS talks about everything possible...and it's all relatable to me and those who grew up not necessarily in the "hood" but in an environment where there was still, sex, hoes, drugs, school, parents, homies, jail and everything else under the sun. It's obvious that HYDE PARKS makes music cuz he loves it.It almost seems as if you can tell...that music has been an outlet for HYDE PARKS to vent his feelings. Nothing fake about this guy...I'm sure HYDE PARKS can hold his own in this small circle of artists that have already been established. "GOTTA GET OUT" is another song that's dope as fuggggggg, and "LOST WITHOUT ME" demands lyrical respect! From his beats, to lyrical delivery...his music is addictive, and I wish HYDE PARK the best! Please trust me....this is a must have mixtape in your rotation! XOXO
