2013 OHHA SHOWCASE AT EARTH NIGHTCLUB!!!!

Okkkkk Soooooo The OHHA is not only known for the most amazing awards show in Cleveland, but OHHA weekend is also known for the SHOWCASE EVENT!!!! Yeah....just from the name "showcase" it would almost make you cringe. Ya know... thinking there would be different acts that no one has really ever heard of performing, and the crowd kinda just staring up at the stage...faces showing no warm and receptive facial expressions. Well...not this time! OHHA SHOWCASE EVENT at times has almost been larger than the awards itself. This 2013 OHHA SHOWCASE was no different. There were at least 45 acts expected to be performing at EARTH nightclub. Don't get it twisted! When I heard that all of these acts all had slots to perform.....I felt overwhelmed. (Like *damnnnnnn we gone be there all night"). Even as I found myself gettin dressed in my hotel room with my manager @Kickagirl , we both did what can only be described as "farting around", possibly dreading a long endless night. Yet as my phone began to vibrate , with texts and calls from numerous friends and artists...I could feel the energy start to accelerate through my body. (*Kinda like that feeling I get when SCANDAL is about to come on) Needless to say...we began our mission to EARTH!!!! After a few final checks in the mirror, and a quick...phone, lighter, tree, gloss, gum, money, and i.d check....I finally decided to jump out the car. Fidgeting around with my camera I was last to leave the parking lot....as I was walkin towards EARTH I noticed a large group of guys, all in a tight circle... (S/0 to HIGHLY PAID)"rehearsing" for the SHOWCASE. I thought it was so coooool to see people actually putting in a lil extra effort to make sure all their sh*t was tight before hitting the stage.

Walking into EARTH was CRAZY!!!! It was like a "who's who" of artists all walking around! MS.CREAM OF THE CROP was looking super cute with her huge baby like smile. Zima Luv looked like delicious arm candy...and they were both warm and welcoming! SHUICIDE HOLLA was in a dark corner ...you would have almost missed him...if it wasn't for his infamous hightop. Young Shon had obviously spent time coordinating his outfit. MOoKiE MOTONIO was here and there...and every damn where. Splash Rob and Dame B were the life of the party as usual, PAPER PAULK looked like he was worth bout a million bux, like he had just got drafted...yeah he was huge!!!! ZAIRE and LOTUS B THE MODEL were doing live tweets which was dope, Kickagirl was working the room, always networking like a mofo!!!! BSMOOTH was sooooooo cool and laid-back, MZ.CRAZY TEE was looking pretty damn fine, and seemed to be happy from the "spirits", BIG HEFF had the same "Big Heff" look like he usually has  (*yeah...that look) he kept the show moving , 1 half of WRECKIN SQUADD #2Dz was in attendance, EZ THE AMBASSADOR literally shut Earth down when he turned on his EXCLUSIVE AIR MAGS!!!!!!!!!!!! WTFFFFFFFFFF  EMO MOSLEY was looking like..."try me if you wanna...cuz I kno you dont really wanna" and soooooo many more ...were all at EARTH!!!!!!!

I started to feel a lil nervous for all the artists. As time ticked by, I started to smell the competition in the air.  I mean damnnnnnn. *Honestly I'm still not exactly clear on what was going to be awarded, but I do know that the artists were goin hard like OHHA was given away Bentleys or ....free hotel stay*wait...were they? It seemed as tho each artist grew hungrier watching other artists perform. There were sooo many performances, and eventually the SHOWCASE reached a point where each artists was trying to "out turn up" the previous artists!(*yeah I just said"out turn up"*headroll fingasnap )Judging from the time and amount of acts in the building, I was at 1st feeling overwhelmed. Later I noticed that I was feeling super stoked to see who was coming up next! All the artists pulled out all the extra stops performance wise, and it was as if CLEVELAND was alive with a room full of its finest artists ready to show-off!

Between SPLASH ROB damn near hanging from the rafters, to KING COBRA having his pet snake look as if at any moment it was gonna strangle him, to friggin CHARLES RAMSEY coming out on stage (*wit his fine as*, I love him) ...gud lawd it was AWESOME!!!! The SHOWCASE was packed, the energy was magnetic, everyone looked good, EARTH was INSANE!!!!! The higlight of the night was...TAYE TAGS performing!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I respect everyone who performed, but seeing TAYE TAGS ...was...DOPE!!! He was spittin with his chest out, it's like as soon as he hit the stage he grew a few inches, and was walking like he had the biggest kahunas ever!!!! His music was catchy, and even though he didn't win, he mos def found a new fan....ME!!!!

I'm ashamed to say I'm still in the dark...wondering who exactly won the whole SHOWCASE. Blame it on the herbal refreshments, or chilled tequila...either way I had soooo much fun! EARTH embraced me with so many peeople who I never knew were fans. There was constant swapping of music into strangers hands, hella pics, and lot's of words of praise ad encouragement were whispered all throughout the event. Not only was the SHOWCASE the biggest party of the year so far, it was a well respected party if anything! CYA NEXT YEAR!!!! XOXO

2013 OHHA "LEARN 2 EARN" MUSIC CONFERENCE!!!!!!

Okkkkkkkk Sooooo when the 2013 OHHA weekend rolled around...I must say I was excited!!! Not only were the actual awards on Sunday, but the "LEARN 2 EARN" Music Conference was jammed packed with with some of the industries finest.  (*like that damn Transportation Valley View bridge exit during rush hour )!!! Every year seems to be the same thing....everyone is excited about the parties,  showing off their fits, and new bodies (*yeah don't act like you didn't work out jus a lil to look good). Yet when I asked artists, and event goers if they had planned on attending the Music Conference at VADA...people seemed to slowly look away like "uhhhhh yeah about that...I'm not sure". I tried my best to assure everyone that the Conference would mos def be rewarding and full of powerful information, with an abundance of contacts n 1 room!  I had participated in the conference last year....so I was fully aware of how vital this event would be to providing growth for myself within the industry.

When I was driving up to VADA I was thinking..."heyyyyy now...free parking!!!". It was my 1st time entering VADA. I must say I was pleasantly impressed with the venue. It was white all around, nice bar, and I as passed thru the crowd...squeezing by, hugging those worthy of hugs, extending endless dap to associates, and giving the ever so popular "Yo wassup" kinda facial expression with a small head nod to people on the other side of the room. VADA was cold...and walking in felt somewhat like walking into detention at school. It wasn't the "super fun, party atmosphere". It was a structured, mature, educational atmosphere. I looked around to see who all was filing into the room. I noticed that all of the artists, managers, even family members all looked focused and ready to learn something. That's 1 thing about these conferences, the people that really are interested in learning the business...you can see it in their walk, gaze, and even their notepads. YES!!!! There were sooooo many pens scribbling away....and it seemed as though most people tried to be seated close to the panel...maybe in hopes of making eye contact with the right connect on the panel, or maybe they had high hopes of strategically placing their music or card into the hands of an industry executive, producer, photographer, label rep, manager, DJ, or Engineer...*YEAH THEY WERE ALL THERE *headroll fingasnap.

ShugaBooga was the appointed host for the panel. You can never go wrong with ShugaBooga, his experience, genuine , and energetic personality seemed to loosen up the room. The panels were soooooo informational!!!!!! We learned about branding, split sheets (yeah you betta get hip), we learned that you need to build a rapport with people to have a good relationship, and we learned about  LOYALTY...yes LOYALTY people!!!! We even heard a real a*s story about heartbreak and broken business relationships. Just when the conference seemed to feel lengthy...it was jump started again (*like a old Honda during the winter). The DJ panel was insane!!!!!! Leaving I found a whole new respect for the DJ's!!!!! By the end of the conference...all of my business cards had been exchanged with other industry connects. I felt full from all the knowledge that was exposed. The people that were looking skeptical...like walking into detention, suddenly looked fulfilled...like sponges that had absorbed extreme amounts of food for thought.

It's funny...only moments after leaving, I had artists call me, or overheard convos where certain people had questions that needed answers....and even up until now I find myself saying..."ummm if you would have been at the conference then you would know the answer to that"....I mean damn....I'm still trippin off "split sheets"...smh!!! The 2013 OHHA "LEARN 2 EARN" Conference was enlightening!!!! Everyone who particiapted was generous with their expertise and knowledge of the industry!!!! It was insane to be in a room full of legends!!! XOXO

http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/paper-paulk-fuck-em-all-video.19296.html
Okkkkk Sooooo Cleveland's own PAPER PAULK recently dropped his latest visual for "F*CK EM ALL" ( checkout HotNewHipHop.com)! It seems as though PAPER PAULK is quickly emerging from the latest pack of artists, and is quietly attempting to takeover the reign as it's newest leader. PAPER PAULK has found a unique, honest and intelligent way to tell a story...his story. Without sounding to "deep"...*where we might get lost in methaphors that require the assistance of google, he manages to paint a picture...for our ears to hear. "F*CK EM ALL" is a dope video! The graffiti being created in fast motion in the video is AMAZING!!! Just to see it completed right before our eyes is beautiful. PAPER PAULK looks dead at us with no fear, and confidence. "F*CK EM ALL" message doesn't get lost in the visual, and every word that PAPER PAULK spits will resinate in your mind, even after the video has ended, making you question... what is it that you are trying to achieve , who's against you (and if they are...f*ck em all), "F*CK EM ALL" is most deserving of it's premiere on the dopest sites in music!!! XOXO

*"This is my only shot, so b*tch I gotta make it, I'm not about to be that n*gga that "coulda" made it, or "shoulda" made it, but neva made it"- Paper Paulk

PEABODY"S PRESENTS CORY GUNZ!!!!!!!!!!

Okkkkkkk Soooooo when I heard CORY GUNZ was coming to CLEVELAND, I'll admit...I didn't believe it. I mean saying CORY GUNZ name....always involved the phrase..."What ever happened to...Cory Gunz?". Now I"m not saying CORY GUNZ ever "fell off"(cuz we'd hear him as a feature here and there)...but he did seem to take a small hiatus. It's 1 thing to leave the game while your still on top. It's another thing to leave the game at the bottom. CORY GUNZ was hot, I mean yeah we were all infatuated with his show on MTV where he basically was tryna choose between Nick Cannon, and Young Money to sign with. (*Let's face it...the suspense was killin us) So when the official invite came thru my email I was curious and even a little excited to actually have the chance to see CORY GUNZ perform live in the flesh. Especially performing at Peabody's! I always say I enjoy Peabody's , cuz it's bigger than small, and it just smells like Good Music.
When I walked into Peabody's the crowd was quaint...and intimate. The floor was covered with concert goers, but it wasn't uncomfortable at all. Usually you have to sit through hella opening acts before the headliner performs. Yet this show seemed to move swift and with ease. I scanned the room to see if I could catch a glimpse of CORY GUNZ. I had panned the whole room before I looked up at the stage and noticed that he had stepped on it. There was nothing really about him that screamed "I'm tha sh*t!!! I mean he seemed quiet, maybe he was slowed down a lil...his eyes moved slow, and everything about him seemed effortless. (He had a few people around him, but not the annoying amount of extra people, just around tryna be extra.)His white tee was only worn for about 5 mins, before it was removed...leaving CORY GUNZ in a wife beater and ridiculous chain! It's like as soon as he grabbed the mic he became another person. His eyes were closed for a majority of his performance. It's like he was totally zoned out! I was thinking "damnnnnn this is really CORY GUNZ live in front of me!!?!!" As I looked around to see the other reactions from all the fans...I noticed some of the male concert goers were a lil stand-offish. I wasn't sure if it was because they may have been intmidated by CORY GUNZ real jewels compared to some of their ..."mall jewelry", or maybe that male ego had them feeling some type way. (*yeah I said it)
Just when I thought I was over analyzing the situation, CORY GUNZ stopped the show, looked dead into the crowd...and basically said something to likes of "What n*gga wan with me". Then if that wasn't enough he jumped off the stage right into the crowd!!!! I mean dude had on heavy jewels and was solo-dolo *headroll fingasnap. I watched CORY GUNZ walk right up to random dudes, and him being way shorter than most people...he seemed like a giant! I mean he literally stood chest to chest with almost everyone in the room , looking people dead in the eyes like "I dare 1 of you to try me". I must say I was a lil nervous. Cuz I'm from CLEVELAND, and I know fo fact that there is usually 1 dude in the crowd that will try to do something insane. Yet the crowd seemed to loosen up, and the dudes that were stand-offish seemed to uncross their arms, relax a lil, and started to bob their heads. It's like before CORY GUNZ really started to go in...he made sure that his audience respected him and that he had our full undivided attention!!
After that...it was game on!!!! CORY GUNZ went all the way innnnnnnnnn!!! More than half of his show was show performed in the middle of the floor right with the crowd!!!! Just when people thought "this dude is zoned  out, he's fried"...CORY GUNZ  heard  "Milli" beat drop and let's just say...he showed dat as*!!!! He kept saying  to the dj  "speed it up, speed it up!!!". He did his verse triple times faster than the original!!!! Proving that he was totally focused, and all the way right.I still can't get over how fast he was going!!! The show was AMAZING!!!! Everytime CORY GUNZ stood next to me, hugged me (*yeah he showed love) or even jus walked by , my nostrils grew big!!!! Even though he was dressed casually...I must say ... CORY GUNZ...smelled like a million bucks!!! (* I wish I knew what he was wearing!) I can still smell him!!!! He was extra fresh...he even had some of the healthiest cuticles I've ever seen!!! After the show ended he took flicks with fans, and was very approachable. Walking into Peabody's some of us shared the same thought..."mannn where has CORY GUNZ been, what is he up to?". Leaving the show we all shared the same thought "Damnnn CORY GUNZ is the truth!!!!!" He left us with new music in our ears, and new found respect for him!!!! CORY GUNZ!!!!! XOXO
